WELCOME TO THE CAIP LENDING LIBRARY

                                                           sponsored by:

       Ethan and Friends for

The CAIP (Collaborative Autism Intervention Project) Lending Library was established in 2006 through collaboration between the Parent Advisory Committee of SoutheastMissouri, Ethan and Friends, and the Thompson Center for Autism & Neurodevelopmental Disorders at the University of Missouri.  The library contains a variety of materials that may be helpful for those who live or work with children with autism-spectrum disorders.  These include books about autism, early reader books, educational videos and DVD’s, computer software, toys, children’s games, flashcards, educational games and materials, potential reinforcers, and objects that can help improve children’s motor skills.  These materials can be checked out by family members and educators of children with autism-spectrum disorders.

The Lending Library is located at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church at 804 North Cape Rock Drive in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  Members of the St. Andrew’s congregation have graciously agreed to maintain and staff the library as part of a larger mission of educating people in the community about autism.  Regular hours of operation are listed below.

A complete catalog of library items is posted here on our website, as well as the Thompson Center for Autism website for you to view.  Also available on the websites are order forms and informational cards.  If you are aware of a parent that does not have internet access but feel they may benefit from the library, please encourage them to visit the library during the regularly scheduled hours.  You may also talk to your consultant about checking items out on your behalf.

If you are unable to visit the library to pick up your requested materials, University of Missouri staff (Matt Stoelb, LeAnne Hopper, Stephanie Schremp and Jacy Cook) may be able to bring them to you when they are scheduled to travel to your part of the Southeast Missouri region.

You will be allowed to borrow as many as 10 items for up to 30 days at a time.  If the need arises to keep the items longer, please let your consultant or library staff know so that they can indicate the extension on your card.

We ask that you please treat the materials that you check out with care so that they can benefit many families.  If they are damaged or lost, we will ask that you replace them so that we can keep the library full of supplies.

Thanks for participating in the CAIP Lending Library.  If you have any questions, please ask your consultant or library staff during operational hours.
